Latest News: Featherstone By Election Candidate Announced
Conservatives Pick Is Nurse and Small Business Owner Pepe Ruzvidzo
The Five Towns and Hemsworth Conservatives have selected local nurse and small business owner Pepe Ruzvidzo to be their candidate in the upcoming Featherstone By Election, taking place on Thursday 12th December.
Pepe has been a registered nurse for over 30 years, and now runs a small business providing care services to local vulnerable people, including elderly and disabled people across the district.
A long-standing Conservative Party member, Pepe was driven to put herself forward as a candidate as a result of the disastrous impacts that Rachel Reeves' recent budget - with an increased tax on jobs and removal of support for pensioners - would have not only on her small local business, but also the elderly and vulnerable people she has spent her career caring for.
Pepe said:
"I don't know how any small businesses can cope with these tax rises. My business looks after elderly people, so I need to make sure I look after the people I employ so that we don't let anyone down who needs us. Putting up taxes means I have to spend more time trying to balance the books and less time caring for people - that's not what I became a nurse to do."
Pepe also hit out at the Wakefield Labour Group's local failures, which have created a multi-million pound budget black hole that council tax is rising by nearly 5% to fill.
She explained:
"Disasters like the botched land deal in Featherstone are embarassing. If I made such a terrible mistake in my business it would probably go under. Yet Labour Councillors have the audacity to ask for your vote again, despite their failures sticking you with a £57,000 a year interest bill. Imagine what Featherstone could do with £57,000 a year if Labour hadn't made such a blunder!"
Wakefield Labour Group's failures are "emabarrasing" says Pepe
Elderly people like those Pepe cares for as a nurse are being let down by Labour
People who live in Featherstone ward (Featherstone, Purston Jaglin, North Featherstone, Old Snydale, Ackton and Sharlston) need to be registered by 26th November 2024 to have their chance to vote for Pepe Ruzvidzo, and get the caring councillor they truly deserve.
